Bhubaneswar, July 22: The Odisha government has renamed the Regional Education Directorates operating in the state. Henceforth, these offices will be known as Regional School Education Directorates instead of Regional Education Directorates.

The School and Mass Education Department has issued a notification in this regard through Letter No. 19021. The three Regional Education Directorates located in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, and Sambalpur will now function under their revised names.

Earlier, the offices were officially referred to as Regional Education Directorate, Bhubaneswar; Regional Education Directorate, Berhampur; and Regional Education Directorate, Sambalpur. These directorates function under the administrative control of the School and Mass Education Department.

The department has directed that the new name be updated across all official documents, including government records, notifications, orders, rules, acts, manuals, service records, and other office-related documents.

However, the renaming will not bring any change in the authority, duties, responsibilities, jurisdiction, or functions of these directorates. All existing powers and responsibilities of the Regional Education Directorates will continue to remain unchanged.

A formal notification in the government gazette regarding the name change will be issued soon.
