Ragging haunts VSSUT again

Burla, Ap 23: A new ragging case has surfaced at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Sambalpur, sparking concerns about student safety on campus. The incident involved a Mechanical Engineering student who was allegedly harassed by four senior students.

Following an inquiry by the university’s anti-ragging cell and fact-finding team, authorities imposed fines on the students involved-₹10,000 for one senior and ₹5,000 each for the other three.

Reports indicate the incident occurred when the seniors verbally abused a junior, and another student attempted to record the event. This reportedly provoked the seniors, who allegedly assaulted the student filming.

VSSUT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deepak Sahu confirmed the penalties, emphasizing that strict measures were enforced following the investigation.
