Puri, July 10: The sacred Chakabije Niti will be observed at the Shree Jagannath Temple on Dashami, marking an important ritual in the annual ‘Anasara’ period. During the ritual, Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities are believed to awaken from their resting state, symbolising their gradual recovery after falling ill following the Snana Purnima rituals.
According to temple traditions, the deities, lovingly attended by the ‘Daita servitors’, are steadily regaining their health. As part of the healing process, the ‘Raj Vaidya’ (royal physician) will bring the ‘Dashamula Mahousadhi’, a traditional herbal medicine prepared under a closely guarded ritual practice, to the temple on Thursday afternoon. The medicine will be ceremonially offered to the deities on ‘Ekadashi’, after which they are believed to have fully recovered.
The deities have remained in seclusion since ‘Snana Purnima’, observing the customary ‘Anasara’ period. On ‘Panchami’, the ritual application of ‘Phuluri oil’ was performed, followed by the ‘Osua Lagi’ medicinal rituals from ‘Shashthi to Navami’ as part of the traditional healing process.
Meanwhile, temple rituals on Wednesday witnessed changes in the daily schedule. The ‘Pahuda’ (night-rest) ritual was not conducted. ‘Mangala Alati’ began at ‘8:00 am’, followed by ‘Abakash Puja’ after 35 minutes. ‘Gopal Ballav Puja’ concluded at ‘12:40 pm’, while ‘Sakala Dhupa’ ended at 2:10 pm. The Bhoga Mandap ritual was completed at 3:15 pm, following which ‘Abhada Mahaprasad’ was distributed to devotees.
