New Delhi, July 5: President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday expressed grief over the passing of celebrated Pandavani artist Teejan Bai, describing her death as a profound loss to India's cultural heritage.
In a condolence message, the President said Teejan Bai's extraordinary talent brought national and international recognition to Chhattisgarh's rich Pandavani storytelling tradition.
The legendary folk singer, renowned for taking Chhattisgarh's traditional oral art form to audiences around the world, passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur on Sunday.
"The news of the demise of the renowned Pandavani artist Smt. Teejan Bai ji is extremely sad," President Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi, paying tribute to the iconic performer and her lasting contribution to Indian folk art.
