Bhubaneswar, June 12: The post-mortem report of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain, who was allegedly lynched by a mob at Balianta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar last month, has revealed that he died due to severe brain injuries sustained during the brutal assault.
According to the report received by Capital Hospital, Soumya Ranjan suffered grievous injuries at 21 different places on his body. The findings indicate that he was repeatedly attacked with hard and heavy objects, resulting in extensive trauma and fatal brain hemorrhage.
The report noted deep injury marks on several parts of his body, including the head, eyes, nose, chest, back, and legs. Medical experts found evidence of severe internal bleeding and brain damage caused by multiple blows. It also stated that the constable was unconscious at the time of his death.
Investigators believe the post-mortem findings provide crucial evidence supporting the murder case, as they confirm that the injuries were caused by repeated attacks using blunt objects.
Reacting to the report, Soumya Ranjan’s mother alleged that her son was mercilessly beaten by a mob using whatever objects were available. She said the post-mortem report substantiates the brutality of the assault.
