Bhubaneswar, Jul 28: As Bhubaneswar cements its position as one of eastern India's emerging startup and IT destinations, plug-and-play coworking spaces are rapidly becoming the preferred choice for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses seeking affordable and flexible office solutions.

One such entrepreneur is Abhishek Pradhan, who launched his software startup from a coworking facility in Patia after abandoning plans to set up a traditional office. By opting for a ready-to-use workspace, he was able to save substantial capital, which he later invested in expanding his business and recruiting employees. Today, his startup has grown to a team of 10 professionals.

These plug-and-play workspaces offer businesses everything they need under one roof, including furnished workstations, high-speed internet, uninterrupted power supply, air-conditioned offices, conference rooms, meeting spaces, reception services, cafeterias, parking, and security. Entrepreneurs simply need to bring their laptops and begin work without worrying about office setup or maintenance.

Patia has emerged as the city's largest coworking hub due to the concentration of IT and IT-enabled service companies in the area. Similar facilities are also witnessing rapid growth in Sahid Nagar, Satya Nagar, Rasulgarh, and Kalinga Vihar. Depending on business requirements, users can choose from hot desks, dedicated desks, or private cabins, with monthly rentals ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000. Meeting rooms are also available on an hourly rental basis.

Industry experts believe the demand for flexible office spaces will continue to rise. Shakti Mishra, Co-founder and CEO of real estate firm Capdeal, said Bhubaneswar is witnessing the rapid expansion of startups, technology firms, and emerging businesses, many of which prefer flexible workspaces over investing heavily in permanent office infrastructure. He added that the coworking segment is expected to witness sustained growth in the coming years.

Supporting this view, Arun Nayak, Coworking Space Manager at Bhubaneswar Office Private Limited in Kalinga Vihar, said the city has evolved into a major destination for startups, IT companies, and independent professionals. According to him, the growing preference for modern, cost-effective, and fully serviced workspaces is reshaping Bhubaneswar's commercial real estate landscape and strengthening its reputation as a thriving startup ecosystem.
