Dasharathpur, May 2: An alarming food-related incident has occurred in Patapur village under Jayantara Panchayat, Dasharathpur block, where more than 50 villagers reportedly fell ill after consuming ‘Dahi Bara’. Among those affected, 30 are in serious condition and are receiving medical treatment.
In response to the incident, a team from the district health department reached the village to assess the health condition of other villagers who consumed the ‘Dahi Bara.’
According to reports, around 9:30 a.m. yesterday, over 50 villagers gathered near the Jainik Dahi Bara outlet in the nearby Jhumpuri area to eat the popular snack. Within half an hour of consumption, people began experiencing vomiting and diarrhea. Some of the affected residents first approached the Dasharathpur community health center for treatment.
As their condition worsened later in the night, doctors advised transferring the seriously ill to the district medical facility. The transferred patients include 15 women and 5 children among the 30 most severely affected individuals.
Given the severity of the situation, the health department team continues to monitor conditions in Patpur village, investigating the cause of the mass food-related illness. Authorities are expected to conduct further inspections and testing of the ‘Dahi Bara’to determine the source of contamination.
