Bhubaneswar: India’s para badminton stars Pramod Bhagat, Deep Ranjan Bisoyee and Nurul Hossain Khan from Odisha has set their sights on medal at the BWF Para Badminton World Championship 2026, scheduled to be held from 8th to 14th February 2026 in Manama, Bahrain.
Paralympic gold medallist Pramod Bhagat will compete in the SL-3 category, while Odisha’s own Deep Ranjan Bisoyee will represent India in the SL-4 category in doubles and Nurul Hossain Khan will represent India in the WH-2 category in singles , determined to deliver top performances for the country.
Ahead of the World Championship, all athletes have undergone rigorous training and have already tasted success at the international level. Seven -time World Champion Pramod Bhagat is fully prepared to defend his title. In the 2026 Para Badminton World Championship, he won gold in singles and silver in doubles. With over 100 international medals to his name, Pramod Bhagat is regarded as one of the finest para badminton players in the world today. This time, he will represent India in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, and expressed confidence in delivering a strong performance before departing for Bahrain. Speaking about his preparations, Deep Ranjan Bisoyee said,
“I am undergoing intense training. I spend a lot of time in the gym, and my practice sessions with my doubles partner Manoj Sarkar have been very good. I will not disappoint the people of Odisha and will give my best performance. This year has been very good for me as I won several major tournaments, and I will continue striving to become World No. 1. My goal is to win the World Championship.”
