Odisha: Schools to Open on June 22 in Angul District After Summer Break

Bhubaneswar, June 17: In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions, the Angul district administration has extended the summer vacation for schools in the district.

According to the revised schedule, both government and private schools in the district, which were earlier set to reopen on June 18, will now resume academic activities from June 22.

The Angul District Education Officer said the decision was made after reviewing the intense heatwave conditions to ensure students' safety and well-being. The Odisha government had initially announced June 18 as the reopening date for schools across the state.

However, with several districts continuing to reel under severe heat conditions, district collectors have been empowered to take appropriate decisions on school reopening based on local weather situations.

Meanwhile, parents and students have welcomed the extension, expressing concern over children commuting and attending classes during peak afternoon temperatures. School authorities have been instructed to make necessary arrangements for a smooth reopening from June 22.

Bhubaneswar serves as the administrative backdrop for the announcement, as heatwave conditions persist across parts of Odisha with no immediate relief in sight, according to weather forecasts.
