Now, the Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mohanty following his conviction.

Odisha: Retired health supervisor gets 4 years RI in bribery case

​​​​​​​Kataka, June 29: A special vigilance court in Kataka on Monday sentenced a retired Multi-Purpose Health Supervisor (Male) - Rasabihari Mohanty - to four years’ rigorous imprisonment.

The case was registered in December 2014. During his tenure as the clerk in the Primary Health Centre at Patkura in Kendrapada district, he was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 1,000 as bribe from a complainant for issuing death certificate of her father.

The Convict was serving as Multi-Purpose Health Supervisor (Male) and in-charge of Vital Statistics Section, Upgraded Primary Health Centre (UPGHC) Patkura when he retired from the Government services.

“Today i.e. on 29.06.2026, Sri Rasabihari Mohanty, Former Multi-Purpose Health Supervisor (Male) and I/c of Vital Statistics Section, UGPHC, Patkura, Dist-Kendrapada (Retired), who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding and taking bribe from a complainant for issuing death certificate of her deceased father, was convicted by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Kataka and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and fine,” said a Vigilance release.

Following his conviction, he was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.

Now, the Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mohanty following his conviction.
