Bhubaneswar, April 5: Officials from the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) led by Chief Engineer Himanshu Sekhar Rout on Saturday conducted a site inspection for the proposed world-class Cruise Terminal in Puri, to be built at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
Strategically located near the upcoming Puri International Airport at Shipasurubali, this project will enhance connectivity and position Puri as a key destination for global cruise tourism. Announced in March, the ambitious project also includes the development of a 1,500-acre modern township in Sipasarubali area.
The cruise terminal, being developed as a joint initiative between PPA and the State Government, as part of a broader vision to transform Puri into a comprehensive tourism and infrastructure hub, will also be part of the prestigious Shamuka Project, further strengthening Puri’s emergence as a premier tourism and maritime hub in the country.
Spread across over 1,515 acres, Shamuka Project is envisioned as a world-class coastal tourism hub, blending Odisha's cultural and spiritual heritage with premium beach experiences and modern infrastructure. Strategically located near Puri and supported by the proposed international airport, the project will host a World Tourism Centre (WTC), designed to serve as a global platform for tourism and enhance Odisha's international profile.
“A major step towards boosting Odisha’s maritime tourism as officials from Paradip Port Authority and the Government of Odisha, led by Chief Engineer Shri Himanshu Sekhar Rout, conducted a site inspection for the proposed world-class Cruise Terminal in Puri,” PPA posted on ‘X’.
