Kendrapara, June 5: In an unprecedented incident, a youth’s hung body was found inside the Kendrapara district Collector’s office on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Shrichandan Das, son of Bharat Chandra Das of Raitundi village under the Derabis block.

According to police sources, the body was found hanging from the railing of the staircase of the Collectorate.

Police, on getting informed reached the spot, removed the body, and sent it to the Kendrapara district headquarters hospital (DHH) for post-mortem.

Subsequently, a case was registered in this connection and an investigation began to unwrap the mystery behind the incident.

On being informed regarding the mishap, Kendrapara district Collector, Raghuram R. Iyer took stock of the matter. However, he said that an investigation is underway to ascertain if the man had ever been to the office with any grievance.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was a driver who used to live in a rented house. However, the reason behind his death in the collectorate is yet to be investigated, said the Investigation Officer.
