Odisha launches Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls; Door-to-Door enumeration begins tomorrow

Bhubaneswar, May 29: The Election Commission (EC) will conduct a month-long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha from May 30 (Saturday), said Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan on Friday. The exercise will continue till June 28, while the final electoral rolls after the revision will be published on September 6.

During the door-to-door enumeration drive, more than 3.33 crore voters will be covered. As part of the drive, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households across the state to verify and update voter details.

The BLOs will visit door-to-door from May 30 to June 28. They will conduct door-to-door visits during morning hours. They have been instructed to remain in their booths from 3 PM to 5 PM. The draft roll will be published on 5 July, while claims and objection can be filed between 5 July and 4 August. The final roll will be published on 6 September, said Gopalan.

The Election Commission of India has directed a comprehensive Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha, with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date.

Accordingly, the CEO has issued a detailed press note on Friday outlining an ambitious schedule to update and purify the voter list through intensive house-to-house verification.

According to the press note, 45,255 trained Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will begin door-to-door visits across the state from May 30 to June 28, 2026. During these visits, BLOs will distribute two Enumeration Forms to each of the 3,33,99,591 registered electors.
