BHUBANESWAR, July 26: Odisha on Sunday joined the rest of the country in paying homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War, with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other leaders remembering the martyrs on the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The day marks India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil conflict, which lasted for nearly three months in the mountainous region of Kargil in Ladakh.

Paying tribute to the fallen heroes, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati said their sacrifice and courage would remain a source of inspiration for generations.

In a post on X, he wrote, "On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a humble tribute to all brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice of their lives for the protection of the motherland. Their indomitable courage, unparalleled valour, and unwavering dedication to the nation will forever continue to inspire the people of our country."
