The day marks India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil conflict, which lasted for nearly three months in the mountainous region of Kargil in Ladakh.
Paying tribute to the fallen heroes, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati said their sacrifice and courage would remain a source of inspiration for generations.
In a post on X, he wrote, "On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a humble tribute to all brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice of their lives for the protection of the motherland. Their indomitable courage, unparalleled valour, and unwavering dedication to the nation will forever continue to inspire the people of our country."
