Bhubaneswar, April 16: Dr. Satyajit Naik, an IPS officer and IGP of Central Range, Cuttack, Odisha, is currently overseeing security and operations for the 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections as the Police Observer for Purba Bardhaman district. His primary role is ensuring the secure and smooth conduct of elections in the area.
On Thursday, Dr. Naik inspected the Futisanko and Moregram inter-district Naka check posts, both located under the Ketugram Assembly Constituency (No. 271) in Purba Bardhaman. During his visit, he evaluated the preparedness of police personnel stationed at these critical checkpoints. His review included assessing the effectiveness of vehicle checks, verification protocols, and adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), which governs electoral conduct.
This inspection ensured that no illegal activities were undermining the election process, such as the illicit movement of unaccounted cash, liquor, or other forms of inducements. Dr. Naik underscored the importance of maintaining high levels of vigilance and professionalism to thwart any such disruptions.
