Bhubaneswar, June 21: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday participated in the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Kalinga Stadium here, joining thousands of people in observing the global event dedicated to health, wellness and holistic living.
The Chief Minister performed yoga exercises as part of the national celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the iconic Red Road in Kolkata.
Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving global recognition to India’s ancient traditions and cultural heritage through the International Day of Yoga initiative.
“We are all grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Due to his visionary leadership, yoga has achieved worldwide recognition and has enhanced India's cultural prestige on the global stage," said Majhi.
The Chief Minister advised the youths to perform yoga for at least 20-30 minutes a day to reduce anxiety and mental stress.
The International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on June 21 across the world to promote the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga and encourage a healthier lifestyle.
This year’s observance was held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, emphasising the role of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and active living across all stages of life.
Meanwhile, PM Modi led the national celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga from the iconic Red Road in Kolkata, where thousands of participants joined him in performing the Common Yoga Protocol.
