Odisha Chief Secretary holds key meet ahead of NEET re-exam

Bhubaneswar, June 16: Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with district Collectors at the Lok Seva Bhavan here for smooth conduct of the NEET re-examination scheduled for June 21.

While a few Collectors of coastal districts attended the meeting physically, most of the Collectors joined the crucial meeting virtually. 

Development Commissioner DK Singh, ACS (Home) Hemanta Sharma and ACS (Revenue and Disaster Management Department) Arabinda Padhee attended the meeting.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination on June 21 (Sunday) from 2 PM to 5.15 PM.

The Chief Secretary emphasised that all designated personnel must discharge their assigned responsibilities on the examination day and remain present until the completion of all examination-related activities and formalities.

According to reports, 56,983 candidates will appear at 132 examination centres across 27 towns of the State. Garg directed district administrations to take all necessary steps on priority basis for its successful conduct.

Garg directed the district Collectors to focus on security arrangements, safe transportation of examination materials and free bus service for candidates, readiness of centres and proper coordination among departments.

She also emphasised deployment of adequate number of magistrates, police personnel and support staff at each centre.

As the re-examination date falls on International Yoga Day, the Chief Secretary directed the Collectors to ensure that the yoga day celebrations conclude by 8 AM to facilitate free and fair and incident free NEET re-examination in the State.
