Bhubaneswar,  Ap 3: Odisha recently celebrated the 'Ama Poshak Ama Parichaya' (Our Attire, Our Identity) Day, a vibrant celebration of the state's cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship. Held as part of the ongoing Odia Pakhya celebrations from April 1st to 14th, the event encouraged citizens to don traditional handloom attire, symbolizing the state's rich artistic legacy and cultural depth.

The second day of the festivities saw a massive turnout from people across the state, spanning both rural villages and the urban centers like Bhubaneswar. Officials from the Department of Information and Public Relations, including Director Shri Anuj Kumar Das Pattanaik and Director (Technical) Shri Gurbir Singh, participated by arriving in traditional garments to support the campaign and promote the spirit of the event.

The celebrations not only highlighted the visual impact of traditional attire but also featured educational and commemorative activities. Special discussion sessions focusing on the Handloom and Weaving Industry of Odisha were held in various districts, aiming to inform the public about the state's rich weaving traditions and their cultural significance. These forums showcased the technical skill involved in the craft while emphasizing the role of the handloom in the state's history.

To engage the younger generation, exhibitions were set up showcasing a wide array of handicrafts and the iconic Pattachitra art form. These exhibitions provided a platform for artisans and weavers to display their works, promoting the preservation of these traditional crafts.

Traditional decorative art forms such as Jhoti, Chita, and Muruja added to the aesthetic charm of the event, with venues adorned in intricate designs. In recognition of the dedication of Odisha's weavers and artisans, members of local cooperative societies were honored for their contributions to the state's artistic heritage.

Ama Poshak Ama Parichaya Day successfully bridged Odisha's glorious past with its modern identity, ensuring that traditional art forms and craftsmanship continue to be celebrated and preserved for future generations.
