Bhubaneswar, April 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Odisha, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, state president Manmohan Samal, Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, and independent MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo, have ramped up their campaign efforts in West Bengal to mobilize support for BJP candidates in the ongoing Assembly elections.

The Odisha leaders have been strategically stationed in constituencies with significant Odia-speaking populations, particularly in districts along the Odisha-West Bengal border and in industrial areas where large numbers of migrant workers from Odisha reside. The BJP sees this demographic as a key factor in tipping the scales in closely contested seats.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who previously campaigned during the first phase of the election, is set to return for a two-day visit to West Bengal. During his visit, Majhi is scheduled to address several public meetings and roadshows aimed at engaging Odia voters and showcasing the BJP’s governance model in Odisha. "West Bengal is home to lakhs of Odias. This time, they are determined to vote for the BJP. We are confident that the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress will be voted out on May 4 when the results are declared," Samal said in an interview on Saturday.

In addition to political leaders, numerous Odia social activists, cultural figures, and community organizers have joined the campaign trail. These individuals are holding smaller group meetings, engaging in door-to-door outreach, and organizing community interactions to further consolidate support.

Political analysts note that this cross-state mobilization is part of the BJP’s broader strategy to tap into linguistic and cultural connections, expanding its electoral reach beyond its traditional strongholds.
