Bhubaneswar, July 23: In a move to strengthen healthcare services across Odisha, the State Health and Family Welfare Department has approved 152 new posts for Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Senior Residents in various government medical colleges and hospitals.
The newly sanctioned positions are dedicated to expanding super-speciality medical services in the state.
The approval covers faculty and resident posts in several advanced medical departments, including Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Nephrology, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (CVTS), Haematology, and Surgical Gastroenterology.

All these departments will receive sanctioned posts for Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Senior Residents, enabling the institutions to expand specialist care and improve medical education and training.
The Health Department stated that the recruitment of these specialists will significantly enhance the availability of advanced healthcare services in government hospitals and improve access to quality treatment for patients across the state.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Odisha is committed to strengthening its healthcare system and ensuring high-quality medical services for its citizens.
He expressed confidence that the addition of skilled medical professionals would not only improve patient care but also strengthen the state's healthcare infrastructure and human resources in the years ahead.
According to the department, Odisha has made substantial progress in healthcare recruitment over the past two years. During this period, 5,197 Medical Officers and paramedical staff have been appointed. The government has also approved the recruitment of 5,989 Nursing Officers, 240 Radiographers, 1,108 Pharmacists, 238 Ophthalmic Officers, and 380 Medical Laboratory Technicians, reflecting its continued focus on expanding healthcare manpower and improving public health services throughout the state.
