Bhubaneswar, April 9: A tragic incident occurred on Thursday at the INS Chilika Naval Training Centre in Odisha, where a 19-year-old Agniveer trainee was found dead, suspected to be a suicide, officials confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as Kartik Yadav, a resident of Mohammadpur village in Bhaumi tehsil, Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh. He was the son of Rajkumar Yadav.
According to preliminary reports, Yadav had been enrolled in the Agniveer program for the past four months. Sources indicate that the intense training schedule had taken a toll on his mental well-being, and he had been grappling with stress. It is believed that Yadav took his life by hanging himself inside Barrack No. 7 at the facility.
Naval authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, and further updates will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
