Sambalpur, March 23: Authorities conducted surprise early-morning inspections across multiple jails in Sambalpur district on Monday, confirming that no objectionable or illegal items were recovered during the operation.

The coordinated checks took place simultaneously at Sambalpur Circle Jail and the sub-jails in Rairakhol and Kuchinda as part of routine security monitoring. The operation at Sambalpur Circle Jail began around 5:30 am. It involved teams comprising two Additional Superintendents of Police (SPs), a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), and personnel from various police stations.

A thorough search of all cells and barracks was carried out, with the operation overseen by Sambalpur Sub-Collector Puspanjali Panda, who supervised the proceedings in her capacity as Executive Magistrate. Officials reported that no illegal items, including mobile phones, SIM cards, or intoxicating substances, were discovered during the inspection.

Sub-Collector Puspanjali Panda emphasized that the raid was a part of routine security checks, which yielded no objectionable materials. Additional SP Ajay Kumar Mishra confirmed that the searches were conducted simultaneously at Sambalpur Circle Jail and at the jails in Kuchinda and Rairakhol, with multiple officials involved in the thorough inspections.

Authorities stated that these surprise inspections will continue as part of ongoing security protocols and surveillance in correctional facilities to maintain safety and order.
