NCB busts Odisha–Kashmir Ganja smuggling network, two arrested

Bhubaneswar, May 30: A major interstate ganja smuggling racket linking Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, and allegedly extending towards Pakistan has been busted by the Narcotics Control Bureau. Two alleged traffickers from Jammu & Kashmir have been arrested and brought to Odisha on transit remand for further investigation.

According to investigators, ganja sourced from Odisha was being smuggled to Jammu & Kashmir through a well-organized network. Authorities suspect that part of the contraband was subsequently routed across the border. The smuggling operation reportedly used trucks transporting fruits from Kashmir to Odisha, with the vehicles allegedly carrying cannabis on their return journey.

The accused, identified as Vikram Singh and an associate, were apprehended by the NCB following an investigation into the trafficking network. Officials believe the syndicate had been operating for some time using concealed transportation methods to evade detection.

The NCB is continuing its probe to uncover the full extent of the network, identify other individuals involved, and determine the exact routes and destinations used for the illegal trafficking of cannabis from Odisha.
