Berhampur, Ap 9: In a horrifying incident, the body of a minor girl was discovered in a toilet behind her maternal uncle’s house in Lakhmanapalli village, under Jagannath Prasad police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Archana, a young girl from Kanakuturu village in Buguda block. Archana had visited her maternal uncle Ganesh Maharana’s house and went missing on Wednesday morning. After a frantic search by her family, a missing person complaint was lodged with the police. Later that night, her body was found wrapped in a saree inside a toilet located approximately 20 metres from the house.

Bhanjanagar police, along with the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, reached the site and launched an investigation. Initial observations revealed strangulation marks on her neck, indicating a possible murder.

Authorities suspect Archana’s maternal aunt may have been involved in the crime. Police are investigating the motive and circumstances behind the alleged killing.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for today to determine the exact cause of death.
