Berhampur, May 18: A youth died under mysterious circumstances while working in an agricultural field in Ganjam district’s Digapahandi block on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Raghunath Gouda of Jharipadar village under B. Turubudi panchayat.

According to sources, Raghunath had gone to a nearby farmland in the morning for agricultural work. After plucking mangoes from a tree in the field, he resumed work when he suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness.

Locals present at the spot immediately shifted him to the Primary Health Centre at Jharipadar. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Following the incident, the deceased’s wife, Kandhuni Gouda, lodged a complaint at Digapahandi police station. Acting on the complaint, police reached the health centre, seized the body and launched an investigation.

An unnatural death case has been registered and the body was later sent to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for post-mortem examination.
