Bhubaneswar, July 13: A man from Odisha's Bolangir district died after allegedly being hit on the head with a mobile phone by his wife during a domestic dispute, police said.

According to preliminary information, the couple got into an argument at their residence on Saturday. During the altercation, the wife allegedly struck her husband on the head with a mobile phone, causing serious injuries.

The injured man was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bolangir, where he received treatment. After doctors noted an improvement in his condition, he was discharged and returned home.

However, soon after reaching home, his condition reportedly worsened. Family members rushed him back to the District Headquarters Hospital for emergency medical care.

Despite efforts by doctors to save him, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the cause of death. Officials said the post-mortem examination report is awaited, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

The incident has shocked local residents and highlighted the potentially fatal consequences of domestic conflict.
