Balasore, May 5: In a shocking incident, a young man was allegedly beaten to death over a love proposal in Odisha’s Balasore district under Simulia police limits.

According to sources, the son of Sudarshan Sutar from Purushottampur panchayat had proposed to a girl from Birabrahmapur village under Kanchapada panchayat over the phone. The girl’s father, Bhagaban Kar, reportedly came to know about the matter and allegedly brought the youth, identified as Subash, in a vehicle.

He was then tied to a pillar at an anganwadi centre located within the Birabrahmapur school premises and brutally assaulted.

The critically injured youth was rescued and first admitted to Simulia hospital. Due to his deteriorating condition, he was later shifted to Bhadrak hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Following the incident, a complaint has been lodged at Simulia police station. Police have detained one person in connection with the case and further investigation is underway.
