Boudh, April 7: The District Labour Office has issued notices to three commercial establishments for failing to display their signboards in Odia within Boudh Municipality limits.
The action came following a special inspection drive carried out in different parts of the municipality. During the inspection, officials found that over 10 establishments were checked, out of which three had signboards written only in English, violating the prescribed norms.
Additional Labour Officer Kanya Kumari Sahu directed the defaulting establishments to install signboards in Odia and submit photographic evidence to the Labour Office by the 15th of this month. The notice also warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would invite strict departmental action.
Officials further informed that similar inspections will be intensified across the district to ensure compliance among all commercial establishments. Earlier, the department had issued notices to nine establishments for the same violation.
The Labour Department has reiterated that strict enforcement will be carried out to ensure wider use of Odia in commercial signboards across the district.
