Jeypore, Jul 9: Serious concerns over the pace and quality of development works in Koraput district dominated the 22nd meeting of the District Planning Committee (DPC), where public representatives expressed strong dissatisfaction with the performance of various government departments.
The meeting, the first to be chaired by Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha as Chairman of the District Planning Committee, focused on key sectors including drinking water, road connectivity, education, and healthcare. Members stressed the need to prioritise these essential services to improve the quality of life across the district.
During the meeting, elected representatives criticised what they described as poor implementation of government schemes and a lack of coordination among departments. They also raised concerns over roads constructed at the cost of crores of rupees developing damage within a short period, and the prolonged delay in completing several mega drinking water projects.
Expressing strong displeasure, the Jeypore MLA warned officials that they must perform their duties efficiently or be prepared to leave the district. He emphasised that development projects should be executed with accountability and transparency to ensure public funds are utilised effectively.
DPC Chairman Raghuram Machha also issued a stern warning, stating that strict action would be taken against officials who fail to discharge their responsibilities properly. He directed all departments to improve coordination, expedite pending projects, and ensure the effective implementation of government welfare and infrastructure programmes.
The meeting concluded with a renewed emphasis on accountability and timely execution of development initiatives, with public representatives calling for immediate corrective measures to address long-pending civic and infrastructure issues in Koraput district.
