Konark Sun Temple launches 3D AR–VR show for tourists

Konark, Dec 26: In a move to enhance the visitor experience at the world heritage site, a 3D AR–VR show has been launched at the iconic Konark Sun Temple. The facility has been set up on the south-eastern side of the temple and offers a 20-minute immersive presentation on the history of the Sun Temple.

The show is available in Odia, Hindi, and English, allowing tourists from across the country and abroad to enjoy it fully. Seating arrangements have been made for nine visitors at a time. The ticket price for the VR show is ₹150 for Indian visitors and ₹300 for foreign tourists, while the AR show is priced at ₹300 for Indians and ₹500 for international visitors.

The show will operate daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with timings subject to change during the summer season. The initiative has been launched with the support of IIT Bhubaneswar and the Department of Information Technology (DoIT).

AR–VR founder Hitesh Kumar highlighted that the facility would be particularly beneficial for elderly visitors and persons with disabilities, providing an accessible way to explore the temple’s rich history.
