Baripada, July 10: In a major breakthrough, Karanjia Police in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district foiled an alleged dacoity attempt and arrested three persons who were reportedly planning to commit the crime. A Maruti 800 car, an iron rod, a crowbar, a screwdriver, pliers and three mobile phones were seized from their possession.

According to police, the incident occurred during a late-night patrol on Thursday. The accused were allegedly hatching a plan to carry out a dacoity on the road between Mata and Dari villages when the police team spotted them. On seeing the police, the suspects attempted to flee into the nearby forest. However, the police chased them down and apprehended three of the accused.

The arrested have been identified as Raju Naik, Jamir Khan and Rajendra Munda, all residents of Mahadeudeuli village under the Karanjia police station limits.

A case has been registered at Karanjia Police Station, and further investigation is underway. Police said the accused will be produced before the court on Friday.
