Kandhamal, March 23: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Kandhamal Police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Harish Bishi, has seized over 2,000 kilograms of ganja (cannabis) during an interstate smuggling operation. This action is a part of the ongoing effort to make Kandhamal district a drug-free zone.

The operation was led by Baliguda Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Shiba Ranjan Singh. The police were alerted about the illicit transportation of ganja from Dakagada village in the Baliguda area to outside the state late at night. Upon receiving the information, a team of police officers, along with an Executive Magistrate, rushed to the scene and successfully intercepted the shipment.

The seized ganja, weighing over 2,000 kilograms, has an estimated value of several lakh rupees in the market. The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and have initiated an investigation. This operation is a significant step towards ensuring a drug-free environment in the region.

Authorities have vowed to continue their efforts to combat the illegal drug trade and maintain law and order in the district.
