IPL 2026 Final heads to Ahmedabad on May 31

Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final on May 31. This decision follows a sudden venue reassignment by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), moving the marquee event away from Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. While the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, were originally expected to host the summit clash at their home ground. Due to operational and logistical challenges forced the cricket governing body to pivot to the world’s largest cricket stadium.

Playoff Venues and Full Dates

Qualifier 1 is scheduled for May 26 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, providing a high-altitude setting for the opening knockout fixture. Following this, the action moves to the New International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. This fresh venue will host both the Eliminator on May 27 and Qualifier 2 on May 29. The tournament then reaches its conclusion in Gujarat for the fourth time in five years. BCCI officials cited requirements from local authorities in Bengaluru that fell outside established protocols as the primary reason for the shift.

Current Points Table Standings

Punjab Kings currently lead the standings with 13 points, closely followed by a tight pack including Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals. With seven teams still mathematically in the hunt for a top-four finish, the upcoming week of league matches remains critical for determining who travels to Dharamshala and Chandigarh for the knockout stages.
