Indian hockey team crushes Pakistan 3-1 to claim Gold at FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship

India dominates Pakistan 3-1 to secure Asian Hockey5s gold

Indian sub-junior men's hockey players delivered a spectacular 3-1 victory over Pakistan to win gold at the FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship 2026 in Muscat. This commanding performance perfectly capped off an unbeaten tournament run for the boys in blue, who finished firmly at the top of the Elite Pool standings and dominated their opponents.

Romit Pal opened the scoring in the fifth minute, breaking through the defense to secure an early advantage. Captain Ketan Kushwaha and Shahrukh Ali then fired quick, back-to-back goals early in the second half to completely solidify their lead. Pakistan managed only a single consolation goal through Muhammad Usman in the sixteenth minute. After that strike, the Indian defense strictly locked down the turf to prevent any further scoring chances.

Odisha’s steadfast sponsorship and grassroots promotion of national hockey continue to lay the essential foundation for these young athletes to excel on global platforms. Reaching this championship final successfully guarantees both India and Pakistan a coveted qualification spot in the highly anticipated inaugural FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup tournament next year.

Double Joy for Indian Squads

Indian sub-junior women also proved their incredible mettle by claiming a well-deserved silver medal. They fought fiercely but ultimately lost to China in a highly competitive final match. Bringing home medals from both contingents represents a major success for the national sports federation, proving the future of the sport remains incredibly bright.

Hockey India quickly announced generous cash prizes to honor these stellar international performances and boost player morale. Each player on the gold medal-winning men's squad will proudly receive Rs 2 lakh. Their hard-working support staff members will collect Rs 1 lakh each. Female players will take home Rs 1 lakh each for their impressive silver medal finish. Additionally, Rs 50,000 will be awarded to each member of their dedicated support staff.
