Mumbai, April 13: The Indian music and film industry is in deep mourning following the demise of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure. Her death marks the end of an era, leaving behind an unparalleled musical legacy that shaped generations.

Veteran actor Urmila Matondkar expressed her profound grief, recalling her association with Asha Bhosle through iconic songs like Rangeela Re and Kambakht Ishq. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “Heart broken beyond words. Always told her I'm not her fan but her ultimate bhakt… My Goddess,” reflecting the deep admiration she held for the legendary singer.

Singer Salim Merchant paid tribute by calling her “the voice of generations.” He emphasized that her songs and voice will continue to resonate forever. Recalling personal moments with her, he said her guidance and presence had a lasting impact on his life and career.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also expressed sorrow, remembering her as a globally celebrated artist who inspired countless generations. He noted that he had the privilege of working with her on several films and said her absence would be deeply felt.

Actor Annu Kapoor described her passing as a great loss, stating that those who had the opportunity to witness or work with her were truly fortunate. He added that Asha Bhosle had reached the pinnacle of musical greatness.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan also paid homage, calling her demise a “huge loss for Indian music.” He remembered her as an “irreplaceable voice” whose songs will continue to inspire generations to come.

Born in 1933, Asha Bhosle began her musical journey at a young age and rose to prominence in the 1950s. Over the decades, she became one of India’s most versatile and beloved playback singers, lending her voice to thousands of songs across genres and languages.
