Balasore, May 12: In a shocking and tragic incident from Haripur village under Khaira police station in Balasore district, a family carried the body of a deceased woman 15 kilometers on a bicycle to the police station, demanding justice.
According to reports, the conflict stemmed from a land dispute involving rooftops in Haripur village, which escalated into violence between two families. During the confrontation, family members of Manas Jena allegedly attacked Surendra Sethi’s family with sharp objects. As a result, Kamala Sethi, Surendra’s sister, died on the spot, while another woman, Shakuntala, was critically injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Kamala’s family has accused the police of inaction and demanded the arrest of all attackers. In protest, they transported her body by bicycle over the 15-kilometer distance from Haripur village to Khaira police station. The incident has drawn widespread attention due to the family’s desperate act to seek justice.
On the 10th, when Kamala was declared dead, the police detained some individuals for investigation, while the family continued pressing for the arrest of all involved. Khaira police reportedly requested the family to take the body to an ambulance, but they insisted on carrying it themselves, highlighting the intensity of their demand for justice.
