DRI, customs seize ₹4 Crore worth of Hydroponic Weed at Bhubaneswar Airport

Bhubaneswar, May 12: In a major drug bust, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs officials seized around 11 kilograms of hydroponic weed, valued at approximately ₹4 crore, at Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport on Tuesday morning.

According to sources, the consignment was being smuggled from Bangkok by two Tamil youths, who arrived in Bhubaneswar via an Indigo flight. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, DRI and Customs teams carried out a joint operation and successfully intercepted the accused at the airport.

Both the youths have been detained and are currently undergoing interrogation by the investigating authorities.

Hydroponic weed is a high-quality, potent form of cannabis, which explains the significant market value of the seized consignment. Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network behind this racket.
