New Delhi, July 2: The All India Dental Students and Surgeons Association (AIDSA) has suspended dentist Dr. Muskan Soni for five years with immediate effect after she allegedly posted an Instagram Story mocking the death of Ketan Agarwal.
In its suspension order, the association stated that Dr. Soni, who was serving as Treasurer of AIDSA's Madhya Pradesh unit, was found to have committed acts of indiscipline by making "highly inappropriate, offensive, and disrespectful" remarks about the deceased. The association said her actions violated AIDSA's Constitution, Code of Conduct and ethical values.
As part of the disciplinary action, Dr. Soni has been removed from all posts, offices, responsibilities, committees, memberships and every official role within the association for a period of five years. During the suspension, she will not be permitted to represent or participate in any AIDSA activity, exercise any rights or responsibilities associated with the organisation, or contest, hold or be appointed to any position. The order added that the suspension will remain in force unless modified or revoked by the competent authority.
The action comes amid the ongoing investigation into the murder of Ketan Agarwal. Police have alleged that Agarwal was murdered at Lohagad Fort on June 18 by his fiancée, Siya Goyal, with the help of her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary. Both accused are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
