Bhubaneswar, June 13: Two incidents of violent attacks reported from different parts of the city late on Friday night have raised concerns over law and order, with a delivery executive seriously injured in one case and two brothers attacked with a sword in another.

According to reports, a group of miscreants created panic on the Red Cross–Nicco Park road by allegedly chasing and assaulting a food delivery worker. The victim sustained serious injuries in the attack.

The incident took place at around 12:30 am when the delivery executive was returning after delivering food to a house near Dalma Hotel. A group of five youths, travelling on two motorcycles, were reportedly creating disturbances on the road and harassing commuters.

As the delivery worker passed through the area, he allegedly became the target of the group. The attackers reportedly snatched his motorcycle and chased him when he tried to flee. They then assaulted him with sharp weapons, leaving him severely injured.

Fortunately, a police patrol team from Kharvel Nagar police station, led by Officer Devendra Prusti, noticed the incident and rushed to the victim's rescue. The injured youth was immediately shifted to Capital Hospital for treatment.

Police managed to apprehend two of the accused from the spot, while efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining three suspects.

In a separate incident on the same night, two brothers were critically injured in an attack at Kargil Basti under the Airport police station limits.

The victims, identified as Gagan Behera and his brother, were allegedly attacked by a neighbour following a minor altercation around 11:30 pm. Gagan suffered multiple serious injuries, including deep wounds on his head and other parts of his body.

Police have detained the accused, identified as Sarang Behera, and launched an investigation to ascertain the motive behind the attack.

Authorities are examining both incidents and have assured strict action against those involved. Police have intensified efforts to maintain law and order and prevent such violent incidents in the city.
