Boudh, Feb 26: In a remarkable journey of skill and determination, Jayanti Shadangi has transformed the lives of thousands of women in Boudh district by providing professional sewing training and creating employment opportunities.
Despite financial hardships and family challenges that prevented her from pursuing higher education, Jayanti’s determination led her to Rourkela in 1987, where she trained at a recognized sewing institute. On returning to Boudh, she began teaching sewing professionally, establishing what is now known as the Shri Jagannath Sewing Training Institute.
Through her institute, Jayanti has not only imparted tailoring skills to young women but has also helped them secure work in various garment orders, including school uniforms and sweaters. Many of her trainees have now become self-reliant and economically independent, turning her initiative into a model of rural entrepreneurship.
In addition to her professional achievements, Jayanti has managed a successful family life. She married Saurendra Kishore Shadangi in 1994, and the couple has three daughters pursuing careers in architecture, health, and office administration.
Recognized for her hard work and entrepreneurial vision, Jayanti continues to run her training center, inspiring women across the district. The administration has also entrusted her with supplying uniforms to Anganwadi centers and schools, acknowledging her contribution to the community.
