Bhubaneswar, Jul 17: Fresh bomb threat emails targeting district courts sparked panic in Odisha on Friday, with Jagatsinghpur and Jharsuguda courts receiving anonymous messages threatening to blow up the court premises.

At the Jagatsinghpur District Court, the threatening email was reportedly sent to the office of the District and Sessions Judge. The message warned that the court complex, including the judges' chambers and court offices, would be blown up with explosives.

Following the threat, lawyers and members of the public rushed out of the court premises in panic. Police immediately reached the spot and launched a thorough search operation. A bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were deployed to inspect the entire court complex. However, no suspicious object had been reported at the time of filing this report. The identity of the sender remains unknown.

A similar bomb threat was also received by the Jharsuguda District Court through an email sent to the office of the District Judge, creating fear among court staff, lawyers, and litigants.

As a precautionary measure, the Jharsuguda District Bar Association directed all advocates and court employees to immediately vacate the court premises and cooperate fully with the district administration and security agencies until further notice.

Police have cordoned off both court complexes and initiated investigations into the source of the emails. Security personnel are conducting detailed searches while cyber experts are expected to trace the origin of the threatening messages.
