Bhubaneswar, April 13: Bhubaneswar has been illuminated with vibrant decorative lights to mark its 78th Foundation Day. From major government buildings to key roads and intersections, the capital city has been adorned in a grand manner, resembling a festive bride. Prominent structures, including Lok Bhavan and the State Legislative Assembly, are glowing with colourful lighting, while well-decorated city squares are attracting public attention.

The foundation stone of Bhubaneswar as the state capital was laid on April 13, 1948, by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. To commemorate the occasion, special arrangements have been made at the foundation plaque site near the Assembly. Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy is scheduled to begin the celebrations by offering floral tributes, followed by flag hoisting and ceremonial proceedings.

With rapid urban growth and expanding infrastructure, Bhubaneswar has evolved into a major hub for sports, healthcare, and education. On the occasion, the Foundation Day Celebration Committee has urged citizens to actively participate in efforts to make the city cleaner, greener, and more prosperous.
