Balasore, May 9: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday carried out a major raid at the Central GST (CGST) office in Balasore and arrested a superintendent for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000.
The accused officer, identified as Om Prakash Nayak, was allegedly demanding ₹80,000 from a businessman for processing a GST refund. Acting on a complaint, the CBI laid a trap and formed a 27-member team to conduct the operation.
According to sources, Nayak was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount. Following the raid, the CBI launched further investigation and began questioning the accused officer.
