Dehradun (Uttarakhand), July 14: A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has intensified its probe into the alleged theft and financial irregularities involving donations at Badrinath Temple. The team questioned Temple CEO Sohan Singh Rangad and his personal assistant, Atul Dimri, while examining CCTV footage and donation handling procedures.
Suspended BKTC employee Pramod Nautiyal has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody. Investigators have also seized CCTV footage from June 25 after spotting suspicious activities by several other BKTC employees in the currency-counting room, expanding the investigation into a possible insider network.
The controversy has triggered political exchanges between Uttarakhand Congress President Ganesh Godiyal and BKTC Chairman Hemant Dwivedi.
The case was first brought to light by Bhairav Sena founder Sandeep Khatri, who alleged serious irregularities in the management of temple donations.
Following the allegations, both the BKTC and the Uttarakhand government set up separate inquiry committees to investigate the matter.
