​​​​​​​Baripada, Sept 3: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife by smashing her with a stone in Bangiriposi area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased has been identified as Meena Singh (27) and the incident has been reported from Chaulaghori village in Shyamsundarpur gram panchayat under Bangiriposi police limits.

According to police reports, the incident took place late last night following a domestic dispute. In a fit of rage, the accused, identified as Veer Singh, allegedly attacked her and smashed her with a stone leading to her death on the spot.

The heinous crime came to light early this morning when Meena’s family members received information about the incident following which they informed the Bangiriposi police.

Upon getting the information, police personnel reached the crime scene and sezied the body before sending it for post-mortem. The cops also detained Veer Singh for questioning in connection with the murder.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
