
Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: A Class IV student sustained severe injuries to her eye and was admitted to hospital after allegedly being beaten by her school teacher in Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
As per, the 9-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by her teacher for not solving a math problem at Vivekananda Shiksha Kendra in Dumduma Phase-2, under Khandagiri police limits.
She suffered serious eye injuries and was admitted to an eye hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, the girl’s family filed a complaint at Khandagiri police station against the teacher, identified as Geetanjali Sahu, for brutally assaulting the child.
The incident has sparked outrage among parents, raising concerns about the safety of children in schools.
In response to the allegations, the accused teacher denied intentionally harming the student. She claimed she would never deliberately hurt a child and expressed regret, stating the incident happened accidentally while she was “lightly pushing the child’s cheek.”
Meanwhile, the police said that a case has been registered and an investigation into the matter is underway.
