Bhawanipatna, April 21: A joint operation by the Supply Department and police on Monday led to the seizure of a large number of illegally transported commercial LPG cylinders in the district. A pickup van carrying the consignment was intercepted, and one person has been detained in connection with the case.

According to official sources, authorities received a tip-off about illegal transportation of LPG cylinders from Bhawanipatna to Raipur. Acting swiftly, a team stopped the vehicle near Junagarh–Kalampur Chhak and conducted a thorough inspection.

During the search, police recovered a total of 64 cylinders, of which 52 were filled with gas while 12 were empty. The entire consignment, along with the vehicle, has been seized.

Further investigation is underway, police said.
