Illegal gun trading racket busted in Odisha, five pistols seized

Cuttack, Oct 14: Police have busted an inter-state illegal gun trade racket and arrested four persons in this connection. Police have seized five pistols, 50 rounds of live ammunition, eight mobile phones and a car from the possession of the accused. The accused have been identified as Sudhira Swain (45), Sambit Nayak (25), Manoj Behera (30) and Prabhakar Behera (32). Acting on a tip-off, Chauliaganj police in Cuttack today busted the firearm trade racket. “ The accused have been procuring the illegal fire arms from Munger district of Bihar from different gunrunners and involved in illegal arms trade and used to supply arms and ammunitions clandestinely to criminals in different districts such as Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Jajpur and Dhenkanal,” said a police official.
