Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-based cardiologist has publicly challenged President Donald Trump's recent comments about Pakistan, suggesting the US President should direct Tesla to build factories there if he truly believes it's a "great nation."

Dr. Deepak Krishnamurthy's pointed remark on X (formerly Twitter) came in response to Trump's recent claims about mediating tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor. In a post on Truth Social, Trump had congratulated the "strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership" of both countries for finding a path to de-escalation.

However, it was Trump's additional statement about increasing trade "substantially" with "both of these great Nations" that prompted the cardiologist's viral response.

"If Trump thinks Pakistan is a great country, he should ask Elon Musk to set up the Tesla factory in Pakistan," Dr. Krishnamurthy wrote on X, in a post that quickly gained traction across social media.

The comment sparked a flurry of similar suggestions from other users, with one asking why Trump doesn't "build a Trump Tower hotel and business centre there." Another suggested Pakistan should also host "an Apple factory along with Google servers," while a third recommended Trump start with establishing "Trump Tower and golf course" in the country.

Trump had spoken about the India-Pakistan ceasefire on May 12, claiming credit for helping ease tensions through promises of increased trade relations. "We helped a lot, and we also helped with trade. I said, 'Come on, we're going to do a lot of trade with you guys. Let's stop it, let's stop it. If you stop it, we're doing trade. If you don't stop it, we're not going to do any trade,'" Trump stated.

The US President went on to boast about his unique approach to diplomacy, claiming that "people had never really used trade the way he did" as a diplomatic tool.

"By that, I can tell you, and all of a sudden they said, 'I think we're gonna stop,' and they have," Trump added, suggesting his trade-based diplomacy had been instrumental in the de-escalation process.

Dr. Krishnamurthy's comment highlights the skepticism among some Indians regarding Trump's characterization of Pakistan as a "great nation" and his claims about mediating the conflict. The suggestion about Tesla factories also references ongoing discussions about where the electric vehicle manufacturer might establish production facilities in South Asia, with India often mentioned as a potential location.

The exchange underscores the complex relationship between the United States and the South Asian region, where diplomatic statements about one country can often trigger sensitivities in neighboring nations with historically tense relations.

As of this report, neither Trump nor Elon Musk has responded to Dr. Krishnamurthy's suggestion.
