Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today decorated as many as 38 police personnel with police medals on the occasion of Independence Day.
However, Bikram Jena, Inspector in-charge of Khurda Sadar police station, who was scheduled to receive the police medal for meritorious service from the Chief Minister did not turn up to receive the award.
The State Government withdrew the medal from Jena as he has been summoned by the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch for his suspected links with the mining mafia in Khurda district.
Twenty six police personnel – Sunil Kumar Nanda, Kamalendu Sarangi, Madan Kishan, Athnacius Jojo, Mukesh Kumar Brahma, Bidyadhar Sethi, Bishal Bomjan, Dhruba Bahadur Basnet, Rajendra Malla, Deepak Sing Kunwar, Rajesh Biswakarma, Niranjan Sahu, Keshaba Sisa, Jitendra Kumar Das, Sinaya Sekhar Bepari, Urdhaba Chalan, Kanhu Charan Majhi, Prateek Singh, Rabindra Sabar, Ashok Kumar Rath, Alok Kumar Sethy, Dhananjay Barad, Krushna Chandra Ping, Santosh Kumar Dhan, Jagannath Kanhar and will receive Police Medal for Gallantry, two police officials – Gyanaranjan Mohapatra and Asim Kumar Panda were awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service by the Chief Minister.
Similarly, 11 police personnel – Naba Kishore Das, Ajay Kumar Padhi, Ashok Kumar Deo, Prafulla Kumar Singh, Pradyumna Kumar Dwivedy, Snigdha Bhanja, Brahmananda Panda, Kailash Chandra Pradhan, Alexander Kujur and Bipra Charan Gouda were conferred with Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
